Social Evils of Pakistan

Social Evils means:

Social issues are topics or subjects
that directly or indirectly affects the peoples. They often reflect current events but
also represent longstanding problems or disagreement in regards to moral values.
The most prevalent social issues in Pakistan are:-
I. Illiteracy
II. Religious Extremism
III. Unemployment
IV. Poverty
V. Corruption
VI. Injustice
VII.Smuggling
VIII.Drug Addiction
IX. Terrorism
X. Women’s Harassment
 “The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who
watch without doing anything.”

Illiteracy:
Illiteracy in Pakistan persists as a formidable challenge, impeding socio-
economic progress. The Inability to read and write not only hinders individual empowerment but also
casts shadows on the nation's potential for growth. Addressing this issue demands concerted efforts
to enhance educational accessibility and foster a culture that values and prioritizes literacy.

Illiteracy according to UNESCO:

“The illiteracy is the inability to read and write,
which is usually due to the lack of learning”
In Pakistan education is not compulsory that’s why illiteracy is found in majority. It’s Bad for the
Pakistani citizens because a nation can’t progress till it don’t have literate people.

"School made us 'literate' but didn’t teach us to read for pleasure.”

Examples:
Limited Access to Education:
A significant portion of the population lacks access to quality education due
to factors like poverty and geographical constraints.
Gender Disparities:
Gender-based illiteracy persists, particularly in rural areas, where girls often
face barriers to education, reinforcing a cycle of limited opportunities .
High Dropout Rates:
Challenges like insufficient infrastructure and economic pressures
contribute to high dropout rates, hindering sustained educational progress.

one who has no desire to learn.”
