SECTION I: SET INDUCTION

What is sadness?

Sad is a feeling when we do not feel happy.

We feel sad when someone we love does not talk to us or goes away.

We feel sad when something we want does not happen.

It is a feeling that makes us want to cry sometimes or do nothing because we cannot think
properly.

When I’m feelin’ happy, I’ll paint the sky bright blue.
If sad is what I’m feeling, then the tears I’ll paint are,
too.

If what I feel is angry,

I’ll paint my mouth a great big ‘O’, ‘cause Mommy says ‘bout
angry, ‘Get it out, then let it go.’
A SONG!
How do I paint happy?
How do I paint sad?
How do I paint angry,
when someone makes me mad?

How do I paint feelings?

They’re not somethin’ that you see.
And yet, they’re so important in my pictures
about me.

Today I thought about it.

I think what I will do -
is paint what feelings stand for.
It’s easy I think, too.

SECTION II: INSIGHT
ACTIVITY
Are sad feelings normal?

It is perfectly OK to have sad feelings at times.

Sad feelings — like all emotions — are just a natural part of life.

But it doesn’t feel good to stay sad. It feels much better to be

happy.
How can you deal with sad feelings?

1. Notice how you feel and why. 2. Bounce back from disappointments or failures.

3. Think positive. 4. Think of solutions.

5. Get support. 6. Put yourself in a good mood.
