Past Simple

Past Simple:

Past Simple is a verbal time of English and is used to refer to situations and facts that
have already happened and were limited to that time, that is, they began and ended
in the past. For example:

She arrived yesterday. – Ela chegou ontem.


I met him last week. – Eu o conheci semana passada.

Some expressions are used often with this time such as:

• Last
• Years ago
• Yesterday
• In the past
• In 2008
FORM

Affirmative:
Regular verbs:
• ed is added to the infinitive
Work – worked
• in verbs ending in and only d is added
live – lived
• in verbs ending in a consonant plus y, y is replaced by i and ed is added
study – studied

Irregular verbs:
Have different shapes at this time:
• Go – went
• Give – gave
• See – saw
• Write – wrote
Negative:

Is equal in all people

Subjcet + did not + infinitive

Example:

We didn´t find the book.


Interrogative: ​

Is equal in all people ​

Did + subject + infinitive ​



Example: ​

Did you see Sofia ? ​
CONCLUSION
With this trarablho I was able to conclude that in English, the
verbal time Past Simple is used to express habits or actions that
happened in the past and will no longer happen. I have also
been able to improve my linguistic and cultural learning.
