SPEAKING ANXIET

"I just know I have some kind of disability: I can’t learn a
foreign language no matter how hard I try"

Foreign speaking language anxiety may manifest

itself through psycholinguistic factors such as distortion of
sounds, inability to reproduce the intonation and rhythm of the
language, "freezing up" when called on to perform, forgetting
words or phrases just learned, or simply refusing to speak and
remaining silent" for the rest of the class.

ABOUT SPEAKING ANXIETY

Campbell and Ortiz (1991) found that speaking foreign language anxiety
among students is "concerning" and estimated that up to 50% of all foreign
language students may experience impairing levels of speaking anxiety.
Learning a language itself is "a profoundly unsettling psychological
proposition" for the reason that it directly affects an individual’s self-evaluation
and worldview.
It is mostly argued that speaking is the most "anxiety-provoking aspect in a
foreign language learning situation"
