NEW CHALLENGES TO HUMAN

ADAPTATION AND SOCIAL

CHANGE
Modern humans or the now generation
experience a lot of changes whether it is
environmental, social, or psychological.
The earth experience a lot good and bad
changes because of action of humans. It is
a fact the human being have the capacity to
adapt to change.
GLOBAL WARMING AND CLIMATE CHANGE
Global warming is the term used to describe a
gradual increase in the average temperature of
the Earth’s atmosphere and its ocean, a change
that is believed to be permanently changing the
Earth’s climate. It is now a big issue for the
whole environment. It is caused by mainly by
greenhouse effect.
GLOBAL WARMING AND CLIMATE CHANGE

• Greenhouse effect is the process wherein

radiation from the earth’s atmosphere
warms its surface to a temperature above
what it would be in the absence of its
atmosphere. It is caused by greenhouse
gases.
There are a lot of factors which contribute
to the increase of these greenhouse.
Here are some examples:

Burning of Fossil fuels – when oil, gas, or

coal burns, carbon contained within it
combines with oxygen in the air to
deforestation.
-This process called photosynthesis.
Farming – animals produce large amounts of
methane. Some fertilizers also release nitrous
oxide, which is another greenhouse gas.

Improper waste disposal – carbon dioxide and

methane are released during the decay of food
vegetation and paper dumped in landfills.
As the earth’s temperature rises, everything
or the environment suffers. This global issue
makes scientist think of what are the effects
to the environment and to use humans.
Here are some examples of the effects of global
warming:

• Rise of sea levels – with a large of amount of ice

melted, large amount of water or the sea levels
increases.

• Loss of habitats – since the ice and glaziers starts to

melt, species live in that habitat start to migrate and
might lead to extinction because of the loss of habitat.
• Extreme weather – the earth would experience
extreme rainfall or storms because of the large
amount of water being evaporated into the
atmosphere.

• Ocean Acidification – as carbon dioxide dissolves in

sea water, carbonic acid is formed, which has the
effect of acidifying the ocean measured as a change
To adapt and to change the situation of global warming, scientist made a
list in which can prevent and ease the problem of global warming. Here
are some steps:

1. Recycle - help minimize waste.

2. Using less air conditioning – help lessen the amount of CO2.
3. Drive less – help lessen carbon footprint.
4. Use the off switch – save electricity and reduce global
warming by turning off lights. Using only as much light as you
need.
5. Plant a tree – helps absorb carbon dioxide.
