Steps in Expressing One’s Judgment
about the Text

for clues and keywords that support an
idea about the text.
3. T h e p a r t o f t h e t e x t w h i c h i s h e l p f u l i n
coming up with the idea should be quoted
or paraphrased.
4. Q u o t a t i o n m a r k s s h o u l d b e u s e d t o q u o t e
a part of the text. If it is from a book, the
page number should also be indicated at
the end of a sentence.

- Means restating the text in your own
words.

Paraphrase:

- Means stating in a shorter way the text an
other relevant details to support the idea.
