Leadership Theories= are the explanations of

how and why certain people become leaders.
They focus on the traits and behaviors that people
can adopt to increase their leadership capabilities.
Some of the top traits that leaders say are vital
to good leadership include: Strong ethics and
high moral standards.
3 Main Leadership Theories
1. The Great man Theory= The Great Man Theory of
leadership states that some people are born with the
necessary attributes that set them apart from others
and that these traits are responsible for their
assuming positions of power and authority. A leader
is a hero who accomplishes goals against all odds for
his follower.
2. The Trait Theory= The concept the leaders are
born with key characteristics or traits.

3. The Behavioral Role Theory = Focuses on how

leaders behave, and assumes that these traits
can be copied by other leaders. Sometimes
called the style theory, it suggests that leaders
aren’t born successful, but can be created
based on learnable behavior.
LEADERSHIP FRAMEWORK = is a set of principles
outlining what leaders must know and must
do.

Four Behavioral Leadership

1. Directive leadership = take responsibility for decision-making
rather than collaborating with their team or
incorporating employee feedback. They tell
their followers what needs to be done and how it needs to be
done, rather than letting them make their own
decisions or choose their own path for
accomplishing tasks.
2. Supportive Leadership= Supportive leadership
involves building trust, inspiration, and helping
colleagues overcome the challenges
they encounter. Leaders looking to be more
supportive of their teams should try to encourage
teamwork, pay attention to members'
relationships, and also show commitment.

3. Participative Leadership=Participative leadership is a

unique leadership style, also known as democratic leadership.
Participative leaders guide their employees while encouraging them
to provide feedback and participate in decision-making. Participative
leaders recognize employees' significant role in their organization's
success.
4. Achievement-oriented Leadership= Achievement-oriented
leadership is a leadership style where the leader
encourages employee growth and
progress by setting goals that are
challenging. The leader encourages the employees
to strive for continuous improvement.
