Types of team
1. Formal teams
• are teams assembled to address a specific problem or issue, or to
achieve specific health goals.
• Formed by officials for organizational activities
2. Informal team
• Formed informally but it is very important if managed by
understanding their demand
• Formed by religion, age, sex, residence, nationality,,,,,
Motivating team

• A well-motivated health team in a Health facilities or in the


community will work well together and be able to achieve their
health goals.

• knowing a mechanism of motivating your team member continuously


will keep your team integrity.
Mechanism of motivating team
1. Through setting a clear achievable objective

2. Through making equal distribution of the objectives among team


members.

3. By setting clear performance evaluation criteria‘s and evaluates the


performance of all team members in equal and clear

4. Through giving recognition for those team members who perform


better.

5. Through acting as a role model of other team member, leading by
doing what to be done.

6. Making effective communication with the team member will


maintain the team integrity.

7. Respecting the team member and the idea of the team member
and acting as a supporter of the team member
Stages of team building
• Team building usually refers to the process of
selecting and creating a team within a community.

• To improve the performance of any health teams that


you are keen to develop it is helpful to follow the
structured four/five stage team building model
originally developed by Tuckman (1965).

Stage 1: Forming
• The first stage in team development is the forming
stage.
• It is identification and organizing of different team
members
• Your health team members get to know each other
and find out which behaviours will be acceptable to
the rest of the group members.
• Initial rules and ways of working with each other will
be organized.
• This exercise helps the team to create trust among
team members.

Stage 2: Storming
• Team members are encouraged to participate and
engage with the issues and decisions that are key to
the success of the community health team in achieving
its goals.

• This is the stage when health team members may


challenge, disagree with, and question one another.

• This stage can be uncomfortable for some members,


but it is an important stage in tackling problems.

Stage 3: Norming

• It is a stage at which group members come together


and plan together for common purpose.

• Members are clear what their roles and responsibilities


are and how they fit into the team.

• The team has a sense of identity and tries to work


together.

• By the time the team reaches this stage they know how

Sage 4: Performing

• Group structure, norms and behaviour are understood


and accepted. Members know how to work with each
other and can effectively handle disagreements and
misunderstandings.
• Differences have minimized and members have dealt
with them.
• The group is now focused on accomplishing its
purpose.
Stage 5: Adjourning
• The team members end the task and the relationship
and move on to the next challenge.
