SEEDING & SPECICAL SEEDING

Seeding

Seeding is done to overcome the drawback of single knock out tournament. Seeding
is the procedure by which good teams place din fixtures in such way that stronger
teams do not meet each other at very beginning of tournament. Seeding can be
done only if the standards of teams are known before the tournament.

Special Seeding

In this form of fixtures the seeded players are brought straight away to ………….
quarterfinals or semifinals. Though the method is unfair yet the outstanding
players can’t stay for a longer period at a particular place. In this form of draw the
other formalities of draws are not taken as seriously as in knock out tournament.
League Tournament
League Tournament : It is also known as round robin tournament. In this type
of tournament, all teams play against each other team irrespective of winning or
losing. The number of matches played in league tournament is calculated by
Number of teams.
Procedure : of Fixture in a League or Round Robin Tournament The following
methods are used for fixtures in a league tournament.
Cyclic Method
Staircase Method
Cyclic Method : If the number of teams is in even number are, the team number 1
is fixed on the top of the right hand side and the other team numbers are in
EXAMPLE :
Fixture for seven teams using round robin method
Number of teams (n) = 7
Rounds = n = 7
Matches = 7(7-1)/2 = 21 matches
Fixture with the help of cyclic Method
Stair case method :- in stair case method the fixture are made just like a
ladder or a stair case in this method no bye is given to any team and there is no
problem of even or add number of teams.
 Fixture : A Fixture is a fixed schedule where day, date and time are mentioned for
the participating teams or Player.

Cyclic league fixture : The teams which reached quarter finals
are : 1, 5, 7 , 12, 13, 16, 21, 23. n = 8, Rounds = n - 1 = 7,
Matches = 8 (8-1) / 2 = 28

Like wise as per the point system all the teams will get
their ranking.
Win 2 points,
Draw 1 point,
Loss 0 point
add the score of all the matches. The team with the
maximum points will win.
