Sloths are a group of neotropical
xenarthran mammals constituting the
suborder Folivora, including the
extant arboreal tree sloths and extinct
terrestrial ground sloths.

3 toed pygmy
sloth
(Bradypus pygmaeus)
The three toed pygmy sloth
(bradypus pygmaeus) also known as the
monk sloth, or the dwarf sloth is much
smaller than other sloths, but otherwise
resembles the brown throated sloth
(bradypus variegatus).
Length: 48-53 cm
Weight: 2.5-3.5 kg

Brown throated 3
toed sloth
(Bradypus
variegatus)
The brown throated three toed sloth (bradypus varigatus) is the
most widespread and common of the three toed sloths, it has
greyish-brown to beige coloured fur with darker brown fur around
the throat, hence the name brown throated sloth.
Length: 42-80 cm
Weight: 2.25-6.3 kg

Pale throated 3
toed sloth
(Bradypus
trydactylus)
The pale throated three toed sloth (bradypus trydactylus) is very
similar to the brown throated sloth (Bradypus variegatus), but has
paler coloured fur and longer arms. The pale throated sloth also
has an excellent sense of smell, seemingly for no reason.

(Bradypus torquatus)
The maned three toed sloth
(bradypus torquatus) is the largest of the
three toed sloth, weighing up to 10.1 kg.
The maned sloth has slightly green fur,
because of the algae that lives on it.

(Choloepus hoffmanni)
The Hoffman’s two toed sloth (Choloepus
hoffmani) has long fur, and two separate
claws on each of their hind legs.
Length: 55-73cm
Weight: 3-8kg

Linnaeus's 2 toed
sloth (choloepus
didactylus)
The Linnaeus’s two toed sloth (Choloepus didactylus) is very
similar to the Hoffman's two toed sloth (see page 11) , but some of
them can paint (Valentino the painting sloth).
