Types of Translation and Interpretation
General translation/interpretation is the translation or interpretation of non-specific
language that does not require any specialized vocabulary or knowledge.
Specialized translation or interpretation refers to domains which require at the very
least that the person be extremely well read in the domain.
Some common types of specialized translation and interpretation are: financial
translation and interpretation / legal translation and interpretation / literary
translation /medical translation and interpretation /scientific translation and
interpretation /technical translation and interpretation.
Types of Interpretation:
Consecutive interpretation (consec)
The interpreter takes notes while listening to a speech, then does his
or her interpretation during pauses.
Technique 1 : La traduction littérale
C’est le premier procédé de traduction, celui qu’il faut
choisir chaque fois que c’est possible. La phrase traduite mot à mot doit
aboutir à un énoncé ayant du sens.

Cas particuliers de transposition : le chassé-croisé

rapide.
Le chassé-croisé se réalise souvent de façon incomplète, notamment dans le cas des verbes de
mouvement, le mode de déplacement restant implicite en français.
Ex :
La modulation consiste à changer le point de vue, l'éclairage, soit pour contourner une
difficulté de traduction, soit pour faire apparaître une façon de voir les choses, propre aux
locuteurs de la langue d'arrivée
