Content
Opportunities:
Advanced Technologies

Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS)

Petrochemicals

Hydrogen and Alternative Fuels

Global demand
Advanced technologies:

 With advanced technologies we can use drones, the Internet of Things, artificial
intelligence, big data analytics, and electric monitoring.

 In The oil and gas industry these technologies will contribute to the improvement
of companies in this vital industry

 Further improvements are made in production and transportation in the oil and
gas industry

 Advanced ROVs are used to go deeper into the subsea environments.

 These advanced technologies will face challenges encountered in the oil and gas
industry
Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS)
 Carbon capture and storage (ccs) will be a key option for reducing
emissions into the environment.

 The concept is to capture CO2 produced by burning coal in power

stations, compress it, pipe it away from the plant then store it deep
underground.

 There are mainly 3 types of storage :

• Biological Carbon Sequestration
• Geological Carbon Sequestration
• Technological Carbon Sequestration
Petrochemicals:
Petrochemicals

 Petrochemicals are chemicals derived from petroleum and

natural gas. used for a variety of commercial purposes.
 Some chemical compounds are also obtained from other fossil
fuels such as coal, natural gas, sugarcane, and other types of
biomass
 Ethylene, propylene, butylene, benzene, toluene, and xylene that
are combined with other chemicals and transformed into other
materials that make products better.
 Some of the petrochemical products :
• Soaps
• Piants
• Rubber
• Fertilizers
• Pesticides
• Insulating materials
Hydrogen and Alternative Fuels:

 Hydrogen, when used in a fuel cell to provide electricity, is a zero

tailpipe emissions alternative fuel produced from diverse energy
sources.
 Hydrogen is abundant and can be made from renewable energy

 Biodiesel is one of the alternative fuels which is a renewable,

biodegradable fuel manufactured domestically from vegetable
oils, animal fats, or recycled restaurant grease.

 The advantage of using biofuels is to increase energy security,

improves air quality and the environment, and provides safety
benefits.
Global demand:
 World oil demand is scaling record highs, boosted by strong summer air
travel, increased oil use in power generation, and surging

 Global oil demand is set to expand by 2.2 mb/d to 102.2 mb/d in 2023

 India consumed a total of 222.30 million tones of petroleum products in

2022-23.

 An analysis of historical data shows that the previous consumption

record for petroleum products was 214.13 million tonnes in 2019-20.

 Crude oil prices are driven by global supply and demand. Economic
growth is one of the biggest factors affecting petroleum product
 It will continue to play a large role in our lives in the near to medium term future.

 In the near future, the petroleum industry stands at a crossroads, compelled to embrace
technological innovation and sustainability to remain relevant in a rapidly changing
world.

 Digitalization, renewable energy integration, and advanced extraction techniques will

define its operational landscape.

 the petroleum industry's capacity to navigate these challenges and seize emerging
opportunities will determine its role in the global energy ecosystem.

 As the world transitions to cleaner energy sources, petroleum companies have an

opportunity to lead in the development of sustainable solutions and reduce their carbon
footprint
