Maintenance

The centrifugal fan is the heaviest of the three designs for any
given duty with the largest rotor weight and inertia

With respect to maintenance, the access to the bearings is good,

allowing simple replacement. The rotor removal is relatively
straightforward

In general the maintenance requirements are less than on

an A.V.P. axial fan.

For Kiln Induced Draft Fan

A - Check the following per shift :

1. Check the oil level in the fan bearings.

2. Observe the bearings temp and vibration levels.
3. Check the main motor winding temp.
4. Listen for any excessive or abnormal noise.
5. Observe the fan speed.
 B - Check the following per week.

1. Follow the previous items.

2. Check if there is oil leakages
 C - Alarm and trip conditions.

 D - Check the following for wear.

1. Examine The Following

2. Fan casing.
3. Inlet boxes.
4. Louver damper (blades, spindles and supports).
5. Impeller.
 E - Notes on wear.

1. Abrasive action on fan impeller is most severe at blade tips

and at the periphery at centre or side plates.
2. Blade liners and wear strips to protect the blades.
3. The liners should be always be replaced completely as soon
as the erosion on tem is too severe.
4. It is dangerous to weld alloy steel unless the correct
procedure is known and followed.
 F - Check periodically the oil levels for
bearing gear at non-drive end of fan shaft

Note:
Bearing gear will continue to turn the fan
at ~ 25 r. p.m after main drive has been
switched off.
