Division Without or With Any of
the Other Operations of Fractions and Mixed
Fractions
(M6NS – lc97.2)

Objective:
1. Solve routine or non-routine problems involving division
without or with any of the other operations of fractions and
mixed fractions using appropriate
problem solving strategies and tools
Opening Song & Prayer
Presentation
 Solving word problems can be very challenging yet exciting.
 Problem-solving skill is the ability to determine the source of
the problem and to find an effective solution. Dividing
fractions word problems arise in many situations. It is
therefore necessary that you familiarize the process.
Presentation
Problem 1:
Mr. Sanchez bought a loaf of bread for breakfast. It measures
18 inches long. How many slices can she make if each slice
measures 1 inches long?

 To solve this easily, follow the four steps in

solving word problem.
Step 1: Understand
a. What is asked?
*The number of slices that can be cut from a loaf of bread.
Presentation
Step 2: Plan.
a. What operation will you use to solve the problem?
*Division
b. Write the number sentence.
*18 ÷ 1

Step 3: Solve.
*Show your computation.

Step 4: Check:
*Check your answer. One way to check if the answer is
correct is to multiply the quotient by the divisor in the number
sentence.

guide in solving problems, I do believe that you are now an
expert in solving routine or non-routine problems involving
division with or without any of the other operations of
fractions
and mixed fractions using appropriate problem- solving
strategies and tools.
Application
Solve the problem below. Follow the steps in
solving problem so that you will be guided and you can
easily solve them.

mixed fractions, follow the following steps;
1. Understanding
You need to find,
*What is asked?
*What are given?
2. Plan
You need to decide,
*What operation will be used?
Generalization
*Write the number sentence.
3. Solve
You need to perform,
*What are the processes with the operation/s you decided to
use?
4. Check
