 Matter was reported to Maj Tariq Mehmood,he told

Shabir that he would be (RTU)

 We took the jeep to civil mechanic for repair and

where on coming back the bedding fall down on the
way

 Next day the UN observer pointed out that there was a

Pakistani bedding lying on the Indian side

 In order to deny UN observer Ausaf , Ghazi and Shabir

made a plane

two unit offrs and brought the bedding back

 The next day Shabir told the UN obsr that the bedding
had been rec right under the nose of indians

 He said that if we can drop bedding we can also

brought it back from their noses

 This act really annoyed the UN observer

 The Bn remained camped in this area till end of Aug

1965, while tps were awaiting the outbreak of war

 In the last week of Aug orders were received from bde

hq for move to another op area

 When the war was brokeout in East Pak Maj Shabir

was itching to get back into paltan and get into action

 He told that if he is not posted to paltan he will run

away and join them on the battle front

 He got a posting ltr around May 1971

 Shabir Sharif tasked to clear jhangar post defended by

pl force
 Shabir Sharif led his coy with great courage and
devotion and cleared jhangar post
 In this op bravo coy cas were 10 shaheed and 13
wounded

 43 en soldiers were killed and 28 were POWs and 4 tanks
were knocked out

 Shabir came out of his trench and got hold of Major Narain
singh, Coy comd of 4 Jat reg and killed him single handed
with his sten gun.

 Nearly 14 ctr attk were repulsed by Maj Shabir and he kept

the en at worry whose 2 bn ( 3 Assam and 4 Jat ) were
supported by squardon of 18 cav.

with its main gun which caused the shahadat of Maj

Shabir Sharif

 We lost one of the outstanding young offr of Pak Army

 He got shahadat on 6 Dec 1971
