PREFERENCE FOR ORGANIC FOOD

AMONG STUDENTS IN POKHARA

Introduction
Health issue is becoming one of the prior concerns of consumers in
purchasing products, specially when it comes to food.
Organic food has became a way to solve such health issues
caused by foods. The choice of consuming organic foods is thus a
growing trend in the world of today following the realization of healthy
self improvement needs. Consuming organic food can give many health
benefits such as chemical free food, highly nutritious and better
immune system. It is becoming popular among youths. Therefore, this
study is done to find the preference of organic foods in Pokhara among
students.
Objectives
The primary objective of this research is to learn about the preference
of organic food among students of Pokhara. Other specific objectives of
this research are:
• To know the students attitude towards organic food.
• To identify the factors that influence consumer(student) attitude towards
organic foods

Research methodology
• The study is based on quantitative research.
• This is descriptive research design.
• The sample size is 100 students in Pokhara.
• Data is collected from both primary and secondary sources.
• Primary data is collected through Questionnaire.
• The books, journals and articles were taken as secondary data.
• The data is presented in formal tables, charts and bar diagrams.
Major Findings
• Young people of age between 20-24 years old better know about
organic food and its impact.
• About 25% respondents don’t purchase organic foods and majority of
respondents i.e.75% purchase organic foods.
• From the survey respondents feel that organic food tastes better than
non organic food.
• Scientific evidences prove that organic foods are healthier.
Conclusion
From this study it is found that people prefer organic foods than non-
organic foods among selected samples. In most conditions due to the
lack of organic foods at an affective price some prefer non-organic
foods even if they have knowledge about organic foods. Hence if
organic food is easily available in the market at a reasonable price
people would better consume it.
