INTRODUCTION
COURSE TITLE: BIO 2
COURSE DESCRIPTION: CELL AND MOLECULAR BIOLOGY
This course deals with the structure and function of cellular
organelles and inclusions including the relationship between
cell and structure and biochemical reactions.
It also includes basic discussions on the central dogma of
molecular biology and updates on DNA technology.
INTRODUCTION to life Science
• Life science
• Study of living things-
• How they grow
• Function
• interact.
• It also include observation, forming hypotheses, conducting
experiments and developing theories.
• From these theories , this is to explain how life began.
INTRODUCTION to life Science
• METHODS OF SCIENCE:
• It means gaining knowledge about the world around us
which involves observing with our senses.
• > in order to gain more accurate knowledge, scientists have
developed a method for studying nature.
• It involves measuring things and drawing graphs.
Scientific method song
• Sistemang Harana (tune of harana of Parokya ni Edgar)
• Sa siyensya, may sistema
• Sa paglutas ng problema
• Dapat tukuyin kung ano itong
• Mga problemang nakagulo
• Identification ang tawag sa phase na ito

• Formulate hypothesis
• Generate ka na list
Scientific method song
• Sunud-sunod subukin
• Itesting, observing
• At sa bawat trial nito
• Tingnan mo ang epekto
• Kung iyan nga ang dahilan
• O cause nito
• Conclusion, recommendation ang direksiyon.
Ways of Learning about Nature
• The most direct way of gaining knowledge about something in
the nature is to observe it.
1. OBSERVATION
It involves watching, listening, smelling, touching and even tasting.
2. INFERENCE
It means interpretation of an observation. Scientist must learn how
to make good inference.
3. CLASSIFICATION
It helps people make sense of the large number of things they see
in the world. Scientists use classification to look for pattern in the
objects they are studying.
