WHAT IS WASTE
MANAGEMENT?

Waste management
encompasses all types of waste, such as
household, industrial and hazardous.
Waste can also be solid, liquid or gas,
each of which have their own methods of
management and disposal
TYPE OF WASTE
MANAGEMENT
Type of waste management is reduce, recycling, composting, reuse,
landfill
REDUCE
• Reducing is simply creating less waste. It’s the best method for keeping the
environment clean, by reducing you stop the problem at the source. Making less
waste to begin with means there is lesss waste to clean up
RECYCLING
• Recycling is the process of collecting and processing materials that would
otherwise be thrown away as trash and turning them into new products.
COMPOSTING
• Composting is a process by which organic waste are broken down by
microorganism, generally bacteria and fungi, into simpler forms. The
microorganism use the carbon in the waste as an energy source
REUSE
• Reuse is the second preferred waste management option after waste reduction.
Reuse is the practice of using a material over and over again in its current form.
The essence of reuse is that it preserves some or all of the energy and materials
that went into making item
LANDFILL
• Modern landfills are well-engineered and managed facilities for the disposal of
solid waste. Landfills are located, designed, operated and monitored to ensure
compliance with federal regulations
