The United Nations Statistics
UNSD Division (UNSD), formerly the United
Nations Statistical Office, serves under
the United Nations Department of
Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) as
the central mechanism within the
Secretariat of the United Nations to
supply the statistical needs and
coordinating activities of the global
statistical system.
ABOUT The United Nations Statistics Division is
UNSD committed to the advancement of the global
statistical system. We compile and
disseminate global statistical information,
develop standards and norms for statistical
activities, and support countries' efforts to
strengthen their national statistical systems.
We facilitate the coordination of international
statistical activities and support the
functioning of the United Nations Statistical
Commission as the apex entity of the global
statistical system.

compiles and disseminates
official statistics on a wide range
of social and demographic
topics.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

UNSD website provides


information on how to develop
and implement a national
quality assurance framework
(NQAF). A NQAF is a coherent
and holistic system for statistical
quality management which
assures trust and quality of
official statistics across the
entire national statistical system.
STANDARDS AND METHODS

Methodological publications on demographic


and social statistics include principles and
recommendations, handbooks, manuals and
technical reports approved by the Statistical
Commission.
STATISTICAL YEARBOOK

Comprehensive compilation of internationally


available statistics on social and economic
conditions and activities, at world, regional and
national levels.
