• Functions
Function Contents
While performing feedback control according to the pressure sensor inside
Pump
the urea pump, the pump raises the pressure to approx. 500 kPa, sending
Function
urea solution to the urea injector.
If the urea solution freezes in the urea tube with heater assembly, the urea
solution expands and the urea tube with heater assembly may be damaged.
Purge
To prevent this, the purge operation is performed when the engine is
Function
stopped due to the ignition switch OFF, stop and start system or engine
stall.
The heater inside the urea pump is operated to thaw the urea solution so
that exhaust gas can be purified even when the ambient temperature is low
Heating
and the urea solution freezes. The heater turns on and off according to the
Function
urea solution temperature sensor inside the urea pump.
NOTE: Urea solution freezes at -11C (12.2F) or lower.
Foreign matter that enters the urea tank is collected by the filter inside the
Filter
urea pump, preventing foreign matter from getting jammed in the pump
Function
and injector.
The solution level position is detected by the float sensor inside the urea
Level Gauge
pump in order to detect the remaining quantity of urea solution inside the
Function
urea tank.

• When refilling urea solution, use AdBlue (compliant
with ISO 22241-1).
• Refill AdBlue using new SST so that it does not spill.

• Notice for refilling

 Do not use urea solution other than AdBlue.

 If AdBlue comes into contact with any painted

surfaces on the vehicle, immediately wash the
affected areas with water.
 If AdBlue is spilled inside the engine compartment,
immediately wipe it with a wet cloth.
» Failure to do so may result in damage to the
vehicle parts, paint, etc.

NOTE: After refilling AdBlue, the engine may take a few seconds longer
than normal to start because the system performs refueling
judgment.

– Removal and Installation
• Notice

 If the urea solution dries out and deposition occurs,

urea may cling to the O-ring of the pipe and cause seal
problems. Therefore, clean the urea tube with heater
assembly and intake port of the urea injector with
water before attaching them.

 If the urea solution remaining inside the urea injector

dries out, it may become unable to inject urea solution.
Therefore, conduct urea tube with heater assembly
installation and removal quickly.

 Maintenance: There are no parts needing periodical

replacement.
