Galileo Galilei
-Galileo was an Italian astronomer,
physicist and an engineer.

-He was the first man ever to invent a

telescope, and he observed the stars of the
Milky Way, about Venus, Jupiter and etc.

-The discovery of the cell would not have

been possible if not for advancements to
the microscope.
Robert Hooke
-Robert Hooke was an English scientist,
natural philosopher and architect. He was
also a member of the Royal Society.

-In 1673, Hooke built the earliest Gregorian

telescope, and then he observed the
rotations of the planets Mars and Jupiter.
Robert Hooke's Microscope
-The discovery of the cell would not
have been possible if not for
advancements to the microscope.
-Hooke's 1665 book Micrographia, in
which he mentioned the term "cell",
living microscopic investigations.
-The picture shows Hooke's Microscope.

Animal
Cells
-All animals are made of cells.
You are an animal, and your
body is made of cells.

-Animal cells are similar to

plant cells in several ways. They
have a cell membrane,
cytoplasm, mitochondria and a
nucleus.
Specialized cells
-Not all the cells in your body are the same. there are many different kinds
of cell in your body. Each kind of cell has a particular function.

-Each cell is specialized to carry out a function. This means that it has a
structure that helps it to do its function The cell is adapted to carry
out its function.

-some of the Specialized animal cells are :

-Red blood cells, they travel through capillaries, they contain a red pigment
called hemoglobin that carry out oxygen.

-Neurones, carry electrical signals from our brain to other body parts, it has a
Axon a big strand and Dendrites short strands in cytoplasm

-Cilliated cells, have tiny hair like threads called cilia they’re found in the
windpipe, they make a sticky substance called mucus it traps bacteria in our
windpipe.
- plants also contain specialized cells. Here are two examples:

-Root hair cells are found outside of the plant roots, they
absorb water from the soil. It has a long, thin extension that
allows water to move easily into the cell.
