SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
 In case of emergency, students should follow the
escape routes as prescribed by the evacuation plan
 In case of fire, do not panic and if possible, bring

along valuables outside and proceed to the
designated area

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
 In case of earthquake, do not panic, do the
drop-cover and hold technique. Find your way
calmly and proceed at the designated area.

FIELDCRAFT AND SURVIVAL

Survival- is the act of living into a new state of things
- adopted to an environment as a result of natural selection
Situations that causes survival:

Air crashes
Crash landing
ship wreck
Lost patrols
Units cut-off from the main body
PSYCHOLOGICAL CONDITIONS TO
OVERCOME IN ORDER TO SURVIVE
Fear of the unknown
will be eliminated by proper training and briefing
learn something of the geography, topography and
the climate of the area which you will operate
Fear of the discomfort

will be eliminated when you know how to get water,
foods and proper ways travel thru the terrain
PSYCHOLOGICAL CONDITIONS….
– Knowledge of medical and construction of shelter
helps to overcome this condition.
– Remember that rest is valuable than speed and
you will be more comfortable if you make your
way with careful planning instead of blind and
exhausting efforts.
– Always keep in mind that your country has not
forgotten you.
PSYCHOLOGICAL CONDITIONS...
• Fear of people
– fear of certain races of people within the territory can
be relieved by previous knowledge and some
common sense
– unless they have been allied with the enemy, you will
have little to fear and everything to gain from the
natives
– by knowing their customs in advance, using common
sense, you will have little trouble from the natives
and possibility of getting lots of assistance

• Fear of your weakness

DECIDING FACTORS FOR SURVIVAL

• Determination to live
– You may suffer all the hardship and obstacles, yet you
will still be alive because of your strong determination
and your will to survive
• Ability to make nature works for you
– Remember that nature and elements are actually
interested in your welfare
– If you know how to use it for your advantage, it will
always be your friend
KEY WORDS FOR SURVIVAL

• Size up the situation by considering :
1. Yourself- hope for the best but prepare for the worst.
- Recall survival training and expect it to work
- Be confident that you can survive
- Get to safe and comfortable place as quickly
as possible
- Once there, look things over, think and force a plan
- Be calm. Take it easy until you know where you and where
you are heading for

– The area. Part of your fear may come from being
in a strange country, therefore try to determine
where you are by land marks, compass direction or
by recalling intelligence passed to you by leaders.
– The enemy. Put yourself in the enemy’s shoes.
Remember you know where the enemy is but he
does not know where you are

– Don’t be too eager to move. It will make you
careless and impatient
– Don’t loose your temper. It may cause you to
stop thinking when something happens.

– Fear is normal and necessary
– When you are injured and in pain, it is difficult to
control fear. Pain sometimes turn fear into panic and
causes a person to act without thinking
• Panic can also be caused by loneliness. It can lead to
hopelessness, thought of suicide and carelessness, even
capture or surrender recognizing these signs helps to

– You can always do something to improve the

PRECAUTIONS DURING TESTING
• Conduct test in the order set down. Do not Short

Cut the test.
• Conduct test on every part of a plant separately.
• Other animal foods are poisonous to human (wild
animals immune system are stronger than human).
• Before testing a particular plant, conduct
reconnaissance patrol to guarantee that there are
plenty of those plants.
• Do not eat or drink any food or water during the
duration of the test.
• Discard plant if you are not confident even after
conducting the entire test successfully.

Medicine and first aid

a. Vomit the plants immediately.
b. Drink a lot of clean water especially boil water.
c. Eat a little charcoal to take out poisoned from body.
d. Get the medical aids quickly.
e. Drink Coconut milk and sugar cane juice ( ½ glass)
f. Drink Honey
