ACTIVITY 1 1.WHAT AM I DOING? WRITE YOUR
REACTION ON THE PICTURE.
LIST WORDS THAT

WITH
MEASUREMENT?
ACTIVITY 2. I KNOW THAT?
A measurement of
length in one direction.
Examples: width, depth and height
are dimensions.

NTS
 During the old times, when land
registration was not yet required, and when
there was still no establish unit of
measurements, people use body parts as a
system of measurements (e. g dangkal, dipa,
hakbang).
MEASUREMENTS USING THE
BODY PARTS
 Englishunits are the units of measurement
used in England up to 1826, which evolved as a
combination of the Anglo-Saxon and Roman
systems of units. Various standards have
applied to English units at different times, in
different places, and for different applications

ENGLISH SYSTEM
 Imperial units, also called British Imperial
System, units of measurement of the British
Imperial System, the traditional system of
weights and measures used officially in Great
Britain from 1824 until the adoption of the
metric system beginning in 1965.

ENGLISH SYSTEM
 A metric system is a system of measurement
that succeeded the decimalised system based on
the metre introduced in France in the 1790s.
The historical development of these systems
culminated in the definition of the International
System of Units (SI), under the oversight of an
international standards body.

METRIC SYSTEM
 The metric system is a system of measuring. It
has three main units or base unit:
m the meter for length
 kg the kilogram for mass
s the second for time

METRIC SYSTEM
EXPLAIN THE IMPORTANCE OF PROPER
MEASUREMENT BASING FROM THE
PICTURE.
Land dispute is a complex
process. It takes time, money
and effort to settle one.
IMPORTANCE OF PROPER
MEASUREMENT
 Butwith modern times, system of
measurements has been already
established. It is a must that we
follow this system to avoid
confusion and prevent dispute.
IMPORTANCE OF PROPER
 Before doing landscape in a certain lot, we
must first do some measurements. This data
will be helpful during the concept planning and
designing phase. Knowing the dimensions of the
lot to be landscaped will help determine the
design and plants to be used.

IMPORTANCE OF PROPER MEASUREMENT

Activity 3. MEASURE ME.: Measure the
things presented using different systems of
measurements.
Complete the table provided in the activity sheet
then answer the guide questions.
Measure the dimensions of the top of your table using dangkal.
Next, measure the dimensions of your house using dipa. And
lastly measure the dimensions of your residential lot using
hakbang. Then get a tape measure and get their measurements
using the English System and Metric System. (Note: Measure
the length and width). Record the result in the table.

 Using the data in the first exercise compare the
measurements. What conclusions can you
draw from the data? What are the differences
between the different systems of
measurements? Which among them is the most
accurate? What are the disadvantages of using
the body parts and the English System as units
of measurement?
GUIDE QUESTIONS
 For the
last exercise, do the task as
instructed. In our assigned area
measure 1m x 2m. Stake it with
wooden pegs, this will be your
practical work area.
