Temperature Effects on Electrochemical Cell

• A battery stored at 40°C may experience self-discharge

rates around 5–10 times higher than one stored at 20°C.
[ref#1]
• The probability of thermal runaway in battery might be
substantially higher above 60°C [ref#2]
• The efficiency of power delivery by battery is reduced by
20-30% in extremely operating conditions compared to
optimal operating temperatures. [ref#3]
• Higher temperatures can lead to faster kinetics and
increased voltage.[ref#4]
• Lower temperatures can lead to a decrease in the
conductivity and durability of the PEM fuel cell.[ref#5]
