WHAT IS A VERBAL?
 are generally defined as verb forms used as another part of
speech

 are words derived from the verb but used as noun, adjective, or
adverb

 there are three kinds of verbal:

1. gerunds
2. participles
3. infinitives
GERUNDS
• Gerunds are verb forms ending in -ing used as nouns.
They are identical to the present participle in form but
differ in function.
• Gerund phrase is a gerund with modifiers or a
complement, all acting together as a noun.

• She loves reading. (gerund)

• She loves reading novels. (gerund phrase)
