4G Mobile Technology Overview

4G is the fourth generation of mobile technology that provides high-speed internet access and multimedia services. It has data transfer rates up to 20 megabits per second using IP networks. 4G has higher throughput of up to 300 mbps using frequency bandwidth of 2-8 GHz compared to 3G networks. There are three possible architectures for 4G - overlay networks using universal access points, a common access protocol across networks, and multimode devices that can access different networks. 4G aims to provide high usability, personalized services, and support for real-time multimedia through entirely packet switched networks with higher bandwidth and security.

Introduction :
What is 4G(4Th generation technology)?
 4G can be defined as MAGIC Mobile multimedia, any time anywhere,
Global mobility support, Integrated wireless solution and customizes
personal service.

4G is used broadly to include several types of broadband wireless

access communication systems along with cellular telephone systems.

The 4G infrastructure consists of a set of various networks using IP

(Internet protocol) and data transmission rates are planned to be up to 20
megabits per second.
Evaluation:

The developed versions

Vs 4G

Data throughput is only upto Data throughput is upto 100 -

3.1 mbps 300 mbps
Frequency band width is 1.8- Frequency band width is 2-8
2.5 GHZ GHZ
Network architecture is wide Integration of LAN and wide
area cell based area based
It is packet switching It is both packet switching
and message switching
Architecture of 4G:-
One of the most challenging problems facing deployment
of 4G technology is how to access several different mobile
and wireless networks. There are three possible
architectures for 4G.
Overlay network
Common access protocol.
Multimode devices
Overlay
network:
UAPs(Universal access points).these
UAPs in turn select a wireless network
based on availability and user defined
choices
A UAP performs protocol and frequency
translation, content adaptation, and QoS
negotiation-renegotiation on behalf of
users.
A UAP stores user, network, and device
information, capabilities, and preferences
Common access
protocal
This protocol becomes viable if wireless
networks can support one or two standard
access protocols.
 One possible solution, which will require
inter working between different networks,
uses wireless transfer mode.
To implement wireless ATM, every
wireless network must allow transmission of
ATM cells with additional headers .
Multimode devices:
This architecture uses a single
physical terminal with multiple
interfaces to access services on
different wireless networks.
It may improve call completion
and expand effective coverage
area
The device itself incorporates
most of the complexity without
requiring wireless network
modification .
4G Mobile Technologies:

We have different technologies in 4G technology

mainly those are
Open Wireless Architecture (OWA)
Spectrum-efficient High-speed wireless mobile
transmission
Open Wireless Architecture:

The open wireless platform requires:

Area and power-efficient broadband signal processing for
wireless applications
Highest industry channel density (MOPS pooling) in
flexible new BTS signal processing architectures
BTS solutions scalable to higher clock rates and higher
network capacity
Spectrum-efficient High-speed
wireless mobile transmission :

some characteristics:
Reduced spectrum requirements, minimizing up-front
capital expenses related to spectrum
Reduced infrastructure requirements, minimizing capital
and operating costs associated with base station sites,
translating into reduced costs per subscriber and per
covered population element
actors contribute to the
spectral efficiency

Modulation formats, Air

interface overhead
Multiple access method,
Usage model.
4G Features:
High usability
 multimedia services at low cost
Personalization, integrated services
Entirely packet switched networks.
Higher bandwidth, tight network security.
Coping with the expected growth in Internet
support real-time multimedia services
Future of 4G:
The technology could also increase interaction between
compatible technologies,
4G technologies will allow 3D virtual reality and interactive
video / hologram images.
4G is expected to provide high-resolution images (better
quality than TV images) and video-links (all of these will
require a band of width about 100MHZ)
Conclusion:
This is low cost, and high Speed data and it has very
efficient features like portability and also users can
download the full length songs, videos and very
flexible, and has a high degree of personalization and
synchronization.
So it is very essential to develop this technology which
provide an unlimitted opportunities . And also innovative
networks will provide an virtual environment.
