The Rise and Fall of Abbasids

The Abbasids
The Abbasids last from 750-1258CE making them
one of the longest reigning Islamic dynasty in
History. They Originated from Arabia and their
name descends for our Holy Prophet's uncle named
Hazrat Abbas. Most of their support came from the
Persians who had recently converted to Islam.
The Rise
The rise of the Abbasids was primarily fueled by
their ability to gain support from various groups,
including the Persians. This support allowed them
to overthrow the Umayyad dynasty in 750 CE.
The Abbasids also shifted the capital to Baghdad,
which became a center of commerce, industry,
arts, and science. Their policies and promotion of
trade attracted people from different ethnicities
and religions, further contributing to their rise to
power
Before Fall

Under the Abbasid caliphate the empire


experienced a period of thriving and prosperity.
The Abbasids focused on promoting various
aspects of society, including commerce, industry,
arts, and science.This period, known as the
Golden Age of Islam, witnessed significant
advancements in fields such as mathematics,
astronomy, medicine, and philosophy.
The Fall
The Abbasids had accumulated a lot of wealth
over the years and due to the constant
expansion it became more difficult to manage
over time. There was also the Mongols who
were a growing threat in the region. Hulagu
Khan(the Mongol leader) attacked Baghdad
and swiftly took over and worst of all, they
burnt the House of Wisdom
Aftermath
The fall of the Abbasids marked the
end of a prosperous period of the
Islamic empire, known as the Golden
Age of Islam. The period witnessed
significant advancements in fields such
as mathematics, astronomy, medicine,
and philosophy. The power had shifted
to local small Dynasties at the time like
the Seljuks
