Working on Data Table and Graph

Review past lab data tables to use an example
NO working, talking or sitting with lab partners
This slide show is in TEAMS: CHAT so that you can move
at your own pace.
NO SHARING
Tr. Aiko will give you 20 minutes to complete the Data Table
MUST BE DONE IN GOOGLE SPREADSHEET OR EXCEL
Data Table: Example: This is a basic layout of the data table.

*** Note if you measured the RATE of Erosion then there is no MEAN-you are recording
increasing time.

If you measured the VELOCITY –which is SPEED in a given Direction: To determine speed
divide the distance by the time: Distance/Time
Google Spreadsheet or Excell: ONLY. For help with toolbar here are some hints for
Google Spreadsheet
Give spreadsheet a document name: Sci8 Weather and
Erosion Merge cells Graph

These icons will either add or delete decimal

places Add borders
DATA TABLE CHECKLIST
• Has a title with both the IV and DV
• Labeled the IV and BOTH situations
o Example Wind Speed Low
o Wind Speed High
• All data have the same number of decimal places
• All trials (+Mean) have a unit of measurement (ml, g, cm,
seconds, speed must be in distance (unit)/time (unit) example
1cm/1sec)
Use the Graph

Use the next slide for a checklist
GRAPH CHECKLIST
• Has a title with both the IV and DV
• Horizontal axis is labeled with the IV
• Vertical axis is labeled with the DV and unit
• Bar graph or column graph to compare (no 3-D)
• Line graph if the DV is measuring the RATE
Click on the 3 dots then choose CUSTOMIZE

How to Customize the graph

Choose chart titles and axis
Choose Chart Title: Write a title
Choose Horizontal (________) and label
the IV
Choose Vertical and label the DV with
unit

Go back to MAIN CUSTOMIZE menu

and choose GRIDLINES –MINOR and
