LIBRARY ELECTRONIC LOGBOOK

MANAGEMENT SYSTEM USING RFID

PROPONENT: MR. RAYMART O. GOROSIN

RATIONALE:

Traditional library attendance tracking methods often

lack engagement and fail to incentivize students to utilize the
library's full potential. This project aims to revolutionize library
usage by implementing a gamified Electronic Logbook
Management System (ELMS) utilizing Radio Frequency
Identification (RFID) technology. This innovative approach not
only ensures accurate and efficient data collection but also
encourages student engagement through a fun and rewarding
points system.

GENERAL COOPERATIVE LEARNING PRINCIPLES 2

Objective of the Study
The general objective of the study is to design and develop an electronic

logbook management system. Specifically, it sought to:

1. Design and develop an electronic logbook management system using

RFID;

2. Test the usability of the system using the Post-Study System Usability

Questionnaire (PSSUQ).

Scope and Delimitation
This study tackles the development and usability testing of a
gamified Electronic Logbook Management System (ELMS) utilizing RFID
technology in the Southern Baptist College Libraries. Students
automatically register upon entering with their RFID tags, eliminating
manual sign-in. The system captures real-time data to generate
attendance reports and grant librarians access to a live dashboard with
statistics. Beyond this, it incentivizes library usage through a gamified
system where students earn points for every visit, redeemable for
rewards. While detailed technical analysis and long-term impact
assessments are left for future research, this focused exploration
delves into ELMS' core functionalities, including data entry, storage,
retrieval, analysis, and reporting, to deliver valuable insights into its
potential to boost student engagement and overall library usage within
the institution.

Research Design
•In this study, development and descriptive method research design will be used.

Development method of research design will be adapted from the General System

Theory (GST) where IPO is applied. The General System Theory posits that a

system is composed of its interacting parts which makes up a complete whole

(Bertalanffy, 1968). Descriptive method of research will be used to evaluate the

project to analyze the data quantitatively (Nassaji, 2015). In the same way, the

output of this study is composed of various complex parts which will make it work.

Research Instruments
This study will used the Post-Study System Usability
Questionnaire (PSSUQ) to evaluate the user satisfaction with the
Electronic Logbook Management System using RFID. PSSUQ is a
standardized 16-item questionnaire with a 7-point Likert scale that
measures user satisfaction with websites, software, systems, or
products. It provides an overall score and three sub-scores for system
usefulness, information quality, and interface quality. A lower score
indicates better performance and satisfaction. PSSUQ is advantageous
because it is replicable and can be broken down into detailed scores for
each question.

Respondents of the Study
The respondents of the study were the librarians and library

assistants of the Southern Baptist College, Inc. They will be requested to

make use of the Electronic Logbook Management System using RFID

software.

Statistical Treatment
This study will employ a purposive sampling
technique to select participants who possess
specific characteristics relevant to the research
question.
