TABLING 101 C

Logistics, locations, and all the rest!

Why do we table?
• It allows us to directly connect with Carleton students in a
meaningful way
• Easier to ask students to complete tasks in person than digitally or
via appeal
• Builds awareness of SPA, our goals, and our partner funds
Our tabling locations
• This semester, we’re tabling in three different locations:
1.University Centre Galleria
2.Residence Commons

reception
• When you arrive, check in with attendant at desk and identify yourself as part
of SPA
• Tunnel Junction: one person stays in tunnels with supplies, others go to CUSA to retrieve
table and chairs
During a shift
• Primary focus is engaging as many students as
possible
• Secondary is taking pictures, videos, boomerangs to
be used for promo

will post
• GOAL: 25 engagements per session
Packing up
• Ensure paper does not get creased or folded
• Pack up all completed messages and information release
forms
• Return table and chairs (and retrieve deposit from CUSA)
• Back in HCI, put cart in storage and messages, release

Hours and Sick Days
• If you realize you are unable to attend a shift more than 24 hours in advance,
email me (jaime.sadgrove@carleton.ca) to let me know
• If it is less than 24 hours, give me a call at (819) 639-3503
• I will also be tracking hours – each shift is paid for the duration plus 15
minutes before and after
• Any changes to this please communicate to me
QUESTIONS?
C
Questions and pushback
• What are some questions you feel you may receive fairly frequently
while tabling?
• What about pushback/dismissal?
• How can we respond?
Questions
• Why do you need me to sign this release form?
• What’s the point of all this?
• How can I get involved?
• Where does the money raised go?
• Why do you need me to participate?
Pushback
• What do you mean Carleton’s a charity? I pay so much in
tuition!
• ESP doesn’t sound like a good use of money – can it go
somewhere else instead?
