 BIOLOGY CONCEPT:
HOMEOSTASIS
D)Explain the roles played by the following in helping the body
temperature to return to normal:
i)Blood vessels in the skin.
-The blood vessels are dilated so more blood flows near and at the
surface of your body to allow heat to be lost to the air hence cooling the
body.
ii)Muscles of the body.
-As muscles contracts, they muscles use energy, known as ATP, which
generates heat. For example, imagine yourself shivering when you're
cold.Muscles produces heat by shivering.
8.Explain why temperature control is regarded as an example of a
negative feedback system.
-If the hypothalamus detects that the body is too hot, the response is that
the body begins to sweat to try and reduce the temperature back to the
correct level. Once the body temperature is back to the correct level,
sweating will stop.
