CAST SYSTEM IN INDIA..
◦ There are four classes: the brahmins (priestly people) , the
kshatriyas(rulers, administrators and warriors; also called
Rajanyas ), the vaisshyas(artisans,merchants,tradesmen and
farmers) and the shudars (labouring classes)
◦ The caste system is a social evil that has been prevailing in
Indian socity for long..
◦ It leads to discrimination and hampers harmony..
◦ The government has formulated various acts and laws to stop
this practice..
POVERITY
◦ Poverty is relative
◦ Poverty occurs in all races and in all countries
◦ Economics class is a continuous line not a clearcut distincition
◦ Gen and situational poverty are different
◦ This work is based on pattners . All pattners have exception
. Individuals brings with them hidden rules of their class
. School operate from the middle<class norms and values
. We cannot blame the victims poverty for being in poverty
. We cannot continue to support stereotypes and prejudices
CILD LABOUR
◦ Employment of children below a certain age limit is termed as child labour
which varies form country to country
◦ In INDIA the age limit for children is 14 years and any factory or industry
employing children 14 years is illegal
◦ While there are many laws pertanings to child labour in INDIA but its
implementation is pathetic on the ground
◦ Lack of basic facilities poverty overpopulation and corruption all leads to
child labour in a country
◦ the mines act of 1952 prohibits companies to employ children below 18
years of age
CHILD MARRIAGE
◦ According to reports most INDIA child brides come from low-income
families and are usually from rural region with little education.
◦ The number of women who died due to pregnancy and childbirth decided
slightly form 254 in 2006 to 210 in 2009.
◦ Reportedly pregnancy and childbirth complications are the leading cause of
death in young women aged 15-19.
◦ While the problems of child brides my appear to be a problem that is
isolated to developing countries the fact is as a result of immigration and
multi-culturalism many developed countries are experiencing challenges
dealing with the matter as well.
◦ If a women is under 18 or a men is under the age od 21 years and are getting
married that is consider as child marriage . It means that two children are
forced to marry each other with the consent of the two families.
ILLITERACY
◦ Illiteracy is one of the biggest problems that INDIA is facing in
contemporary world. Illiteracy is the mother of various other issues like
poverty population explosion unemployement child labor.
◦ Illiteracy is a major stumbling block in the growth and deveolement of the
country. The majority of the population in INDIA is still illiterate which is
hampering the progress.
◦ A number of significant programmes have been taken up since
independence to eradicate illiteracy among adults some of the important
programmers includes:
◦ Social education – implemented in the first five-year plan (1951-56). The
programmer gave importance to iltercay. Extension general education
leadership training and social consciousness.
LOW STATUS OF WOMEN
◦ Women have not achived equality with men in any country.
◦ Of the worlds 1.3 billion poor people it is estimated that nearly cent are
women.
◦ Between 75 and 80 per cent of the worlds 27 million refugees are women
and children.
◦ womens life expectancey educational attainment and income are higest in
sweeden Canada Norway USA and finland.
◦ Numerous violent acts against women.
◦ Domestic violence is accepted-recent UN study states 6 out of 10 men
abuse their wives.
◦ Abducations of young girls.
GENDER INEQUALITY AT WORK
◦ 1. Uneven access to education.
◦ 2. Lack of employment equality.
◦ 3. Job segregation.
◦ 4. Lack of legal protections.
◦ 5. Lack of bodily autonomy.
◦ 6. Poor medical.
◦ 7. Lack of religious freedom.
◦ 8. Lack of politicly representation.
DOWRY SYSTEM
◦ Dowry system is the INDIA practice of giving gifts to the bried at the
time of her departure to the bridegrooms house.
◦ However the practice of dowry system is not only prevailing in INDIA
but is present in other countries like Europe Africa china greec Japan and
more other countries.
◦ The concept of the dowry system was to ensure that the briede is
financially stable after marriage.
◦ The dowry system has put the bride in a very sensitive situation because
she is viewed as an asset that will help the grooms family amass more
wealth and also this means she is a liability for her own family.
SATI PRACTICE
◦ Sati is the practice among some Hindu communities by which a
recently widowed women either voluntarily or by use of force or
coercion commits suicide as a result of her husbands death.
◦ The best know form of sati is when a woman burns to death on her
husbands funeral pyre.
◦ Sati usually forbid it for brahmin women but the more likely
explanation is that sati was a custom of the warrior caste the
kshatriya.
ALCOHOLISM
◦ There is no agreement regarding at what specific point someone is
an alcoholic.
◦ Alcoholism is a state of physical and psychological addiction to a
psychoactive substance known as ethanol.
. Most definitions of alcoholism include chronic behavioral disorders
repeated drinking to
the point of loss of control health disorders and difficulty functioning
socially and
economically.
SUPERSTITION
◦ A black cat crossing the road symbolizes bad luck.
◦ A crow cawing indicates that guests are arriving.
◦ Drinking milk after eating fish causes skin diseases.
◦ Seeing a mongoose symbolized to be very lucky.
◦ Breaking of mirrors is also another bad luck
SANITATION AND CLEANLINESS
◦ In general terms cleanliness refers to keeping our body and
surroundings clean and tidy.
◦ Cleanliness in a way relates to hygiene and prevention of diseases.
◦ We must take the responsiblites of cleaning our houses as well as
locality.
◦ Cleanliness is essential for a healthy and disease-free living.
◦ Cleanliness has many aspects such as neatness of body and proper
sanitation.
◦ A neat and clean body is the basic requiment for a healthy and happy
mind.
RELIGIOUS CONFLICTS
◦ Inter-religious conflict can be defined as conducted involving
or existing within a religious group or movement.
◦ These are basically religious conficts within a particular
religion that are rooted in difference resulting form religious
matters.
◦ Involving or existing between two or more religion groups or
movements.
◦ They started as purely religious disagreement for example
muslims vs Christians or muslims vs hindu etc.
BEGGARY
◦ Despite being the predominant topic in headlines
globally terroism doesn’t have a universally agreed
explanation.
◦ In general terms the use of perils or destruction to
accomplish a particular purpose is called terrorism-
legal interpetations of what composes terrorism
changes from country to country.
◦ Over the past years acts of terrorisum have devoleped
across the world.
JUVENILE DELINQUENCY
◦ Juvenile delinquency is one of the most important
serious problems of the society. It is almost an outcome
of rapid urbanization and industrialization of model
times.
◦ A large number of children moving from rural areas to
cities or living in slums areas in cities are found to be
highly vulnerable to this process.
◦ This has almost become a universal problem in most of
the industrialized countries.
