Surface Test Equipment

What types of equipment?
STT – Surface Test Tree Coflexip Hose (If required)
Choke Manifold DH – Data Header
Heater (Steam or Diesel/Gas Fired) Separator
Calibration Tank (Pressurized or Atmospheric) Pump (Electrical, Diesel)
Burner Boom Burner
Associated pipework Safety System
Laboratory (Include scan equipment if required) Workshop container (With
adequate spare
parts)

This makes up the basic equipment needed for a Well Test. It may well be
necessary to provide more equipment, depending on the customers requirements
and type of test.

Equipment specifications

All our equipment is built with strict specifications and from

the beginning this paperwork must be kept up to date.
No fabrications must take place without the strict
specifications being met.
Up-to-date specifications can be obtained
from the EXPRO Portal Site, or GE/AMT.

Equipment Paperwork necessary to take on the job?

Each and every piece of equipment must have:
Guidelines for Surface Well Test Equipment Design
Verification, Documentation and Traceability
Field Test/Inspection/Maintenance Documentation for
Surface Well test Equipment
Periodic Inspection and Testing of Surface Well Test
Equipment
EXPRO Approval Process for Suppliers
All this documentation must be available on site, for the
customer to review. It is the intention that in the near future each
package that goes Offshore will have a disc with all this information
on it.

Management System – Guidelines

What is this?
These are a documents which hold the minimum standards
that are required by EXPRO to make their equipment fit for purpose.
These standards are not only engineering, but best
practices.
Audits will annually be carried out to make sure that these
standards are met.

Why do we have a STT

The SST can be installed directly onto the temporary
completion and duplicates the functions of a permanent
Christmas Tree.
Allows access to the well for intervention.
Allows control over the well during flowing operations.
Provides a facility to kill the well quickly.
Provides security in the form of an integral ESD valve

Lifting Sub

Why is it there?
Allows the elevators on the rig to lift the
tree and maneuver into position.
Holding/moving it in place while working
and flowing.

Check Valve on Kill Line

What is it used for?

It is used to allow the well to flow while having the kill
line open. It allows they Kill pumps to pump with the
well open and kill the well.
The Check Valve can be locked open during pressure
testing.

Lower Master Valve

The lower master valve is an optional item
which can be run below the swivel. This valve
provides added security because it can be
closed manually or by remote control should a
leak develop in the swivel assembly or STT.
The lower master valve can also be used when
pressure testing the above rotary table
installation; this prevents test fluid and pressure
from entering the test string.

Chemical Injection Sub

In some tests, chemical injection is

required in the surface test tree. The
chemical injection sub is designed to
allow chemicals to be injected into the
vertical upper test string. When the well
is flowing, the chemical mixes with the
well effluent and flows through the
surface equipment. When the well is
shut-in, the chemicals fall down the test
string.
