BACKGROUND
Social media allows individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds to interact and exchange cultures. The
individuals involved come from all kinds of ages, ranging from teenagers, adults, to the elderly. The existence of
cultural exchanges on social media allows Indonesian people to better appreciate and tolerate outside cultures and
can integrate outside cultures in everyday life. However, this integrated culture must be in accordance with the
values and norms of Indonesian society. The values and norms in question are those that are positive and can bring
good changes to society. Because as we know that there are many foreign cultures that have a negative impact on the
nation. Call it westernization through social media, where people are influenced to follow the lifestyle of western
countries they see on social media platforms. In addition to westernization, there is now also a Korean wave,
namely the spread of Korean popular culture through entertainment products such as dramas, music, and fashion
trends. If we compare their lifestyle with the lifestyle of the Indonesian people, it has a significant difference.
Automatically, social media can also dilute traditional culture that has been rooted in people's lives. This impact is
widely experienced by adolescents. Many teenagers apply foreign cultures without any filtering first. Especially
with exposure to foreign cultures, many teenagers consider that traditional culture seems old-fashioned rather than
foreign cultures that may look "cool". Of course, this wrong perspective of teenagers must be changed by
themselves.
 Research Question
How do students deal with foreign cultures through social media in the era of globalization?

Research Objective
To examine the various efforts made by students in dealing with foreign cultures
through social media in the era of globalization.

Social media use have an important role in
helping students to respond to the speed of
cultural globalization through social
media, with an understanding of the risks
and benefits that social media offers.
BAHASA INDONESIA
Pidato persuasif can be implemented as an
effort to encourage people to be wiser in
filtering the entry of foreign culture amidst
technological developments, as well as
introducing national culture as a form of
cultural preservation.
SOCIAL
we must be selective about the cultural content we
access on social media. We can use our knowledge in
identifying positive and negative cultures and
maintaining the existence of the nation's culture
through impact and efforts to deal with globalization

The norms can be used as a guide in the process of
filtering foreign cultures in social media interactions.
By referring to the norms of politeness of Indonesian
society, students can form a strong and polite
character to avoid negative influences from foreign
countries.
DISCUSSION
ENGLISH
Advertisement provides a foundation for
students to face and overcome negative
foreign culture spread on social media.
Students can play a role in educating the
public about the use of social media.
ARABIC
Through "isim tafdhil", learners can
choose foreign cultures on social media in a
better and best structured manner, helping
them assess cultural values that are
appropriate or contrary to local cultural
values.
ASWAJA
Tasawuf involves the application of Tasawuf and
Sharia, students can learn to strengthen faith to face
foreign cultures, by always adjusting the values in
foreign cultures with the teachings of Tasawuf, and
while respecting the cultures of foreign countries.
SKI
Students can apply the values contained in local
wisdom to solve problems of differences in foreign
cultural elements received through social media. On
the other hand, positive values of local wisdom such
as mutual aid and polite behavior.

Taking techniques in each running branch
is necessary, because it can determine the
effectiveness in running. This concept can
be reflected by implementing cultural
taking that is in accordance with local
culture.

and can be a means to maintain national
culture.
MATHEMATIC
Students can apply the concept of An intersection of

students can also apply analytical skills and rigor
gained from the set material, as a way to identify
negative foreign cultures.

importance of navigating social media responsibly in the face of
cultural globalization. From religious teachings to language studies
and science concepts, students can draw on a variety of subjects to
discern, filter, and preserve cultural identities while adapting to the
globalized digital landscape, that consist of beneficial and
detrimental cultures. On the other hand, it can also prevent
inappropriate behavior by students due to exposure to foreign
culture In the digital world.
