 Background of the Study

Career Interest is a desire to develop

professional talents. These can relate to an

industry, profession, skill, talent or knowledge area

(John Spacey, 2023).

 Background of the Study

The most significant elements influencing students'

job decisions are their abilities and career objectives;

these are followed by parental support, career

assistance, traditional and cultural values, and outside

consultation (Qiu, Dooley & Palkar, 2017).

 Background of the Study

 The Philippines is facing an oversupply in information

technology (IT) graduates in 2025, but needs more

students to go into the science, technology, engineering,

and mathematics (STEM) fields, a government think tank

said. (Philippine Institute for Development Studies, 2021).

 Purpose of the Study

 The purpose of this qualitative study is to understand the career

interests of Grade 11 STEM B senior high school students at Don Ramon E.

Costales Memorial National High School who desires to explore their own

values, likes and dislikes, skills, and talents that will guide them to make a

better career choice, leading to greater job satisfaction and success, at the

same time, contributing to the economic growth and global competency.
