Example A 25 y.r.

old male patient who weighs 79 kg has sustained burns to the back of the
right arm, posterior or trunk, front of the left leg and their anterior head and neck. Using the
rule of nines, calculate the total body surface area percentage that is burned.
Back of arm -4.5%
Posterior trunk -18%
Front of left leg - 9%
Anterior head and neck-4.5%
Total= 36%
Use the parklands formula to calculate the total amount of Lactated

Ringers solution that will be given over the next 24 hours.

4ml × 36% × 79kg=11,376ml

11,376 ÷2= 5,688 ml

5,688 ml will be given to first 8 hours

5,688 ml will be given to the next 16 hours
