QURAN
 HADITH
Sahih Muslim 1198a

‫َز ْو َج الَّنِبِّي صلى هللا عليه وسلم َتُقوُل َسِم ْع ُت َر ُسوَل ِهَّللا صلى هللا عليه‬
‫وسلم َيُقوُل " َأْر َبٌع ُك ُّلُهَّن َفاِس ٌق ُيْقَتْلَن ِفي اْلِح ِّل َو اْلَحَر ِم اْلِح َد َأُة َو اْلُغ َر اُب‬
‫ َقاَل َفُقْلُت ِلْلَقاِس ِم َأَفَر َأْيَت اْلَح َّيَة َقاَل ُتْقَتُل‬. " ‫َو اْلَفاَر ُة َو اْلَك ْلُب اْلَع ُقوُر‬
. ‫ِبُص ْغ ٍر َلَها‬
`A'isha, the wife of the Messenger of Allah‫ ﷺ‬said:
I heard Allah's Messenger (‫ )ﷺ‬as saying: Four are the vicious (birds, beasts and reptiles) which
should be killed in the state of Ihram or otherwise: kite (and vulture), crow, rat, and the voracious dog. I
(one of the narrators, `Ubaidullah b. Miqsam) said to Qasim (the other narrator who heard it from
`A'isha): What about the snake? He said: Let it be killed with disgrace.
‫ َق اَل َنَهى َر ُس وُل ِهَّللا ص‡لى هللا عليه وسلم‬،‫َع ِن اْبِن َع َّباٍس‬
‫َع ْن ُك ِّل ِذ ي َن اٍب ِم َن الِّس َباِع َو َع ْن ُك ِّل ِذ ي ِم ْخ َلٍب ِم َن‬
. ‫الَّطْيِر‬
Ibn 'Abbas reported that Allah's Messenger ‫ ﷺ‬prohibited the eating
of all fanged beasts of prey, and all the birds having talons.

• Allah SWT has instructed His servants to look and eat rizqi that is halal and good
• Animals such as fish and cattle that is observed as good by the Arabs is halal for the ummah
• All animals that are ferocious and have sharp fangs to catch its prey is haram
• All animals that are sunnah to kill is haram to eat by the Muslim Ummah
Conclusion

Therefore, eating snake meat in any way, shape, or form is prohibited in Islam not only because of the above reasons, but
because it may bring harm to a person as it is very dangerous.
