What is Defensive Driving?
Defensive driving is a form of
training or practice for motor
vehicle drivers to drive in such a
way that they consciously reduce
the dangers associated with
driving.
Why is defensive driving training
imperative?

Every year the lives of

approximately 1.25 million people
are cut short as a result of a road
traffic crash. Between 20 and 50
million more people suffer non-fatal
injuries, with many incurring a
disability as a result of their injury.

Field Safety (What is surveillance?)
Surveillance means close
observation of a person or group,
Both terrorists and everyday
street criminals operate in a
fashion similar to predatory
animals -
Surveillance Continue…..
they will usually choose the weakest
prey or the easiest mark to attack.
What follows are some general
security recommendations which
can be easily implemented when in
or around your vehicle. The
recommendations below will be your
first line of defence.
D-Driver Counter-Surveillance
Techniques
Obviously, not everyone need to be
so concerned with their personal
safety. The security needs of
someone living in Ibadan and Ilorin
will be considerably different from
someone living in Kaduna and
Enugu. You alone have to determine
what your particular situation
requires.
D-Driver Counter-Surveillance
Techniques continues….
 Vary the times and routes to and from work.
 Have thorough knowledge of the area you are
driving in,
 Avoid getting "boxed-in" in traffic when
possible.
 Always park so that you have a fast exit from
your space.
 If possible, try to keep on the major
thoroughfares.
 Know the shortest routes to police stations,
hospitals, army outposts, etc.
 Check rear view
mirrors frequently
and remember
details about cars
immediately
behind you.
