Typewriter VS.

Laptop
Why was the
typewriter invented?
• Inventors across Europe and America
experimented with writing machines
throughout the 19th century. Many of
these devices were made for people
with visual and hearing impairments.
Instead of a keyboard, the operator
turned a dial to choose a letter and then
pressed a lever or key to print it on
paper.
Features of typewriters
• Typewriters have several parts that allow them to produce typed papers; the keyboard being the
most obvious. Each key is connected to a typebar that lifted a typeface to strike the paper. Each
typeface has upper and lower case forms of a letter or numbers and symbols.
Why were laptop
created….?
• portable computers, which later
developed into modern laptops, were
originally considered to be a small niche
market, mostly for specialized field
applications, such as in the military, for
accountants, or traveling sales
representatives.
Differences of a typewriter and a
computer…
• A computer is automatic while a typewriter is not. Typing on the computer is softer and easier. A
computer is an electric device while a typewriter is a mechanical device. The computer offers
greater accuracy than the typewriter.
Similarities of a type
writer and a computer…

• There are similarities between a

computer keyboard and a typewriter
you use both by pressing one key at a
time. But instead of watching a cursor
move across a screen as you type
(moving backwards easily, automatically
deleting mistakes), a typewriter makes a
physical mark on paper.
Which one we know
is better and why…
• We know that laptops are much better
than typewriters because they are
portable and is easy to carry around.
You can change text font and colour,
however they sometimes can be
unreliable and slow. Laptops have
several keys that typewriters don't have.
Laptops offer nearly every font and
colour option.
