IMPORTANCE OF BODY LANGUAGE

The way you listen, move and react tells the

other person whether you care or not.

It also tells the other person whether you are

being honest or dishonest.

When your body language matches with the

words that you speak it creates trust, clarity and
rapport.

On the other hand, if your body language does

not match the words that come out of your
mouth it generates tension, mistrust and
confusion.

•REPETITION : it repeats and often strengthens the
message you’re making verbally. E.g., nodding
your head whilst saying “yes”

•CONTRADICTION : it can contradict the message

you’re trying to convey, thus indicating to your
listener that you may not be telling the truth. E.g.,
shaking your head whilst saying “yes”

•SUBSTITUTION : it can substitute for a verbal

message. For example, your facial expression
often conveys a far more vivid message than
words ever can.

•COMPLEMENTING : it may add to or complement

your verbal message. As a boss, if you pat an
