state
Week-1(20.10.23 to 26.10.23)
Electrocardiogram Machine
An electrocardiogram (ECG) is one of the simplest and fastest
tests used to evaluate the heart.
Electrodes (small, plastic patches
that stick to the skin) are placed at
certain spots on the chest, arms, and legs. The electrodes are
connected to an ECG machine by
lead wires.
Electrocardiograms are recorded
by machines that consist of a set of
electrodes connected to a
central unit
• electrocardiographs use analog-
to-digital converters to convert
the electrical activity of the heart
to a digital signal. Many ECG
machines are now portable and
commonly include a screen,
keyboard, and printer on a small
wheeled cart.
• Electrodes are the actual
conductive pads attached to the
body surface
• Any pair of electrodes can
measure the electrical potential
difference between the two
corresponding locations of
attachment. Such a pair forms a
lead.
Surgical cautery machine
A cautery machine, also known as a
cautery unit or electrocautery machine,
is a medical device used for surgical
procedures to cut or coagulate tissue.
The term "cautery" refers to the process
of using heat to treat tissues. These
machines are commonly employed in
various medical specialties, including
surgery, dermatology, and gynecology.
Uses of a cautery machine are:
• Cutting (Incision): Cautery machines
can be used to make incisions in tissue
by providing a controlled and precise
application of heat.
• Coagulation (Hemostasis): They are
also used to coagulate blood vessels,
reducing bleeding during surgery.
Components of cautery machine
Generator Unit: The main console that
produces the electrical energy.
Handpiece or Electrode: The tool that
delivers the electrical energy to the
tissue.
Patient Plate (Grounding Pad): Used in
monopolar cautery to complete the
electrical circuit.
Cautery machines are used in a wide
range of surgical procedures, including
general surgery, plastic surgery,
orthopedic surgery, gynecology, and
more.
Dermatologists use cautery machines
for procedures such as wart removal
and skin lesion treatment.
Week-2(27.10.23 to 3.11.23)
Syringe Pumps
A syringe driver, also known as
a syringe pump, is a small infusion
pump, used administer small
amounts of fluid (with or without
medication) to a patient or for use
in chemical and biomedical research.
Some syringe drivers can both infuse
and withdraw solutions.
Syringe drivers are particularly useful
in palliative care, to continuously
administer analgesics (painkillers), ant
iemetics (medication to
suppress nausea and vomiting) and
other drugs.[
Cardio Defibrillators
A defibrillator is a device that provides
an electric shock to your heart to
allow it to get out of a potentially fatal
abnormal heart rhythm, or
arrhythmia, — ventricular tachycardia
(with no pulse) or ventricular
fibrillation — and back to a normal
rhythm. Both of these arrhythmias
happen in your heart’s ventricles or
lower chambers.
While cardiopulmonary resuscitation
(CPR) provides temporary assistance,
a defibrillator can help you survive
sudden cardiac arrest. You can even
use a defibrillator if someone already
has a pacemaker or implantable
cardioverter defibrillator (ICD).
Week-3(4.11.23 to 10.11.23)
Ventillators
A medical ventilator is a machine that
helps your lungs work. It can be a
lifesaving machine if you have a
condition that makes it hard for you
to breathe properly or when you can’t
breathe on your own at all.
A ventilator helps to push air in and
out of your lungs so your body can get
the oxygen it needs. You may wear a
fitted mask to help get oxygen from
the ventilator into your lungs. Or, if
your condition is more serious, a
breathing tube may be inserted down
your throat to supply your lungs with
oxygen.
Oxygen Concentrator
A portable oxygen concentrator (POC)
is a device used to provide oxygen
therapy to people that require greater
oxygen concentrations than the levels
of ambient air. It is similar to a
home oxygen concentrator (OC), but is
smaller in size and more mobile. They
are small enough to carry and many
are now FAA-approved for use on
airplanes.
With continuous flow units, oxygen
delivery is measured in LPM (liters per
minute). Providing continuous flow
requires a larger molecular sieve and
pump/motor assembly, and additional
electronics.
Week-4(11.11.23 to 21.11.23)
OT Table
An operating table, sometimes
called operating room table is the
table on which the patient lies during
a surgical operation. This surgical
equipment is usually found inside
the surgery room of a hospital. A
specialized type of operating table is
call a surgical fracture table (or
trauma table) is designed to allow
an orthopedic surgeon to perform
common orthopedic procedures
such as hip fractures, pelvic
fractures, tibial fractures, fibula
fractures, and anterior approach
total hip arthroplasty.
OT Lights
A surgical light – also referred to as
an operating light or surgical lighthead is
a medical device intende d to assist
medical personnel during a surgical
procedure by illuminating a local area or
cavity of the patient.
The entrance of electric lights into the
operating room in the 1880s was
accompanied by problems. With early
electrical technology control of the light
emitted was poor. Electric light was still
moving and diffuse, with great heat
radiation. Light-emitting diodes as light
sources remove the problem of heat
radiation and reduce energy
requirements.
