1.Genetically modified crops
(GM crops) are plants used
in agriculture, the DNA
of which has been modified
using
genetic engineering methods.
Here are some examples of GM crops:
a.Genetically modified corn that is resistant to
larval pests.
b.Genetically modified soybeans that are
resistant to weed-killers like Roundup.
c.Genetically modified maize used as animal
feed and high-fructose corn syrup.
d.Genetically modified cotton approved in
India and other nations.
e.Genetically modified canola used as
cooking oil and emulsifier in packaged
foods
2.Waste production is a growing
concern in our modern world, and
understanding its significance is
crucial for a sustainable future.
3.Population growth refers to the
increase or decrease in the size of a
population over time, depending on
the balance of births and deaths.
4.Water pollution (or aquatic
pollution) is the contamination of
water bodies, usually as a result of
human activities, so that it negatively
affects its uses. [1]: 6
Water bodies
include lakes, rivers, oceans, aquifers
, reservoirs and groundwater.
Here are some key points about water pollution:
1. Contaminants from sources like sewage can pollute
water.
2.Surface water pollution affects rivers, lakes, and
oceans.
3.Aquatic life is drastically impacted by water pollution.
4.Humans
can contract diseases like hepatitis from polluted water
sources.
5.Ecosystems
can be critically affected and modified due to water poll
5.Deforestation or forest
clearance is the removal and
destruction of a forest or stand of trees

fish from a body of water at a rate greater
than that the species can replenish its
population naturally, resulting in the species
becoming increasingly underpopulated in that
area.
8.Acid rain rainfall made sufficiently acidic by
atmospheric pollution that it causes
environmental harm, typically to forests and
lakes. The main cause is the industrial burning of
coal and other fossil fuels, the waste gases from
which contain sulfur and nitrogen oxides, which
combine with atmospheric water to form acids:
9. ozone layer has been found to be depleted
by certain natural processes such as Sun-
spots and stratospheric winds. But it does not
cause more than 1-2% of the ozone layer
depletion. The volcanic eruptions are also
responsible for the depletion of the ozone
layer.
10.nitrogen cycle is the
biogeochemical cycle by which
nitrogen is converted into multiple
chemical forms as it circulates among
atmospheric, terrestrial, and marine
ecosystems.
