Botosani, located in the north east of Romania, is the capital city of Botosani County, in the northern part of Moldavia, Romania. Today, it is best known as the birthplace of many celebrated Romanians, including Mihai Eminescu, Nicolae Iorga and Grigore Antipa. Up until the 19th century Botosani had one of the biggest Jewish populations in Eastern Europe. Botosani is a typical city in rural Romania. It houses several historic churches, like the Uspenia Church and the Sfantu Nicolae Church. The County Museum showcases important elements of the rural cultures, like traditional crafts and costumes. Sightseeing features The Mihai Eminescu Park: It is located in Varna Garden and houses an artificial lake that can be crossed with the help of the two bridges.
