CONTEXTUALIZED

Learning
APPROACH
CLODOMIRO O. MABINI
LAC Speaker & Facilitator

A good teacher can inspire hope,
ignite imagination, and instill the
love of learning.

Objectives:
1. EXPLAIN WHAT CONTEXTUALIZED LEARNING
APPROACH IS;
2. DIFFFERENTIATE CONTEXTUALIZATION AND
LOCALIZATION;
3. MAKE A CONTEXTUALIZED LEARNING PLAN; AND
4. CREATE CONTEXTUALIZED PERFORMANCE
TASK/ACTIVITY WITH RUBRICS.
LOCALIZATION
vs.
CONTEXTUALIZATION
LOCALIZATION
It is the process of adapting and relating the content
of the curriculum and the teaching-learning process
to local conditions, environment and resources.
LOCALIZATION
EXAMPLE:
In TLE, it says that the learners will be able to
cook ADOBONG BABOY.
How are you going to localize this?
CONTEXTUALIZATION
It is the process of presenting lessons in meaningful
and relevant contexts.
CONTEXTUALIZATION
EXAMPLE:
THE MATTER in WATER
MEASUREMENT
GRAPHS, LINES AND ANGLES
QUADRILATERALS
GRAMMARS
COMMONALITY?
They BOTH adhere in making the lesson flexible, fit,
creative, relevant, meaningful and adaptive to the
student’s level of understanding and instructional
needs.
How do you deliver
your lessons?
How can we deliver Contextualized
Learning?
1. CHECK & BALANCE how can we be able to adapt
to the needs of the learners.

- need data and information about your learners

through research and survey.
- through research, we will be able to identify the
specific needs of the learners.
2. Practice ENDEAVORS.

- that would link theoretical concepts to real-life.

- from theory to practical.
3. Embed instructions in contexts that learners are
familiar with, learners could readily understand and
assimilate those instructions.

- look at the curriculum/MELCs.

- example FRICTION
4. Establish particular teaching practice.

- wag puro lecture and traditional ways of teaching.

- Use Differentiated Instructions.
How can be able to know that the
Contextualized Learning occurs?
1. We need to assess if the learners could be able to
process new information/knowledge without being
dictated every time.
- for example, you want to develop Observation Skills.
- Ask questions (HOTS, open-ended).
- Students shall be able to think of their own way.
2. It makes sense to them one their own frame of
preference.
- students can use their own language.
- explain not define.
Why use a Contextual Learning
Approach?

What can we do to implement contextual learning?
ACTIVITY WORKSHOPS
