Global Health
What is global health?

Embraces several perspectives that focus on the


determinants and distribution of health in
international contexts. It is determined by
problems, issues and concerns that transcend
national boundaries. Koplan et al, define global
health as an area for study, research, and practice
that places a priority on improving health and
achieving health equity for all people worldwide.

Global Health Initiatives (GHIs)

A humanitarian initiatives that raise and


disburse additional funds for infectious
diseases- such as AIDS, tuberculosis, and
malaria for immunizations and for
strengthening health systems in developing
countries.
What is the importance of global health
initiatives?

Contributed to enormous progress in


protecting lives and improving the health of
people globally, including significant progress
against individual diseases like polio ,
malaria, tuberculosis and HIV, and including
coverage of specific interventions like
vaccines.

initiatives?

Tackle increasing global health threats ,


reduce disparities within communities
and between nations contribute to world
where people live healthier , safer and
longer lives.
What is the vision and mission of the
global health?

These values are inspired by the WHO vision


of a world in which all peoples attain the
highest possible level of health, and the
mission is to promote health, keep the world
safe and serve vulnerable , with measurable
impact for people at country level.

The United Nations Development
Program (UNDP) works with different
nations and organizations to withstand
crises, empower lives and improve the
quality of life for all. One of the UNDP’s
intervention program to achieve the eight
millennium development goals is called
Quick Wins.
Quick Wins are actions that can be
immediately used within the community
or locale to produce effective results. Also
can change people’s views, and beliefs
and trigger actions which could lead to
helping millions of lives and countries find
their right path towards the goal.
