 Possessive case - присвійний відмінок - чиє? Кому належить?

Для того щоб показати, що щось комусь належить, ми використовуємо possessive 's.

Singular Plural
Якщо у нас множину закінчується на s, то ми не
Ми просто додаємо 's до того, кому
додаємо 's, а просто додаємо апостроф ПІСЛЯ

 Irregular plural nouns
А якщо у нас irregular plural noun, наприклад children? Він же не на S закінчується. Тому
після нього просто додаємо 's як зазвичай.

Зауважимо, що 's означає, що наступне
слово належить тому, у якого стоїть
's.
It is my mom’s bag. = the bag belongs
to my mom
Як сказати «це сумка Анниної мами»?
This is Anne’s mother’s bag. Сумка
належить мамі, а мама - Ані.
А що робити, якщо мама не тільки Ані,
а ще й Джейн? У мами дві доньки -
Анна і Джейн.
Це мама Анни і Джейн. Вона у них
спільна, тут Анна і Джейн як одне ціле.
В такому випадку ми додаємо 's тільки
до останнього в списку «власників».
This is Anne and Jane’s mother.
Mark and Steve’s books.
Tom and Jerry’s movie.
Maria and Vika’s house.
А якщо у нас мами Анни і Джейн (і вони
у них різні), то потрібно додавати 's
після Анни і після Джейн.
These women are Anne's and Jane’s
mothers.
Alice’s and Jan’s cameras.
There are mom’s and dad’s keys on
the table.
Possessive’s endings
Закінчення присвійного відмінка
читається:
● як [s] після глухих приголосних
звуків,
● як [z] після дзвінких приголосних і
¡Hola!
голосних
● і як [iz] після ​s, ss: [s]; sh: [ʃ]; ch, ¡Hola!

tch: [tʃ]; x: [ks]: ¿Qué tal?

'S можна використовувати з
живими іменниками - animals
and people.
Також можна використовувати
's для збірних іменників - груп
людей або тварин (наприклад
family, society, government,
company, wolf pack, herd і тд)
This is my family’s house.
This is our society’s problem.
Government’s mistakes.
А для неживих предметів ми використовуємо "of the ..." а не
's.
I saw the top of the page. NOT I saw the page’s top.
Верх належить сторінці, але ми не використовуємо 's, так
як сторінка - неживий предмет.
I felt the softness of his skin. Not his skin’s softness.
М'якість належить шкірі, але шкіра нежива, тому не
використовуємо 's.
I hit my hand on the corner of the table. – стіл неживий,
тому не можна написати on the table's corner.
Possessive adjectives and
possessive pronouns
Коли ми говоримо що це належить «йому», «нам» і
тд - ми використовуємо possessive adjectives and
possessive pronouns.
 Possessive adjectives
Possessive adjectives означають що щось комусь належить. І після них ЗАВЖДИ
вживаються іменники.
Приклади:
● This is her car.
● That is my house.
● Jane is our sister.
● There are our dogs.
Possessive pronouns
Mine! Possessive pronouns – це займенники, а коли у
реченні є займенник, то не потрібно
використовувати іменник.

Після possessive pronouns не

використовуємо nouns.
The book is his.
The cars are ours.
The child is mine.
Possessive adjectives vs pronouns

Followed by noun Used on its own

This is my house. This house is mine.
It is her key. The key is hers.
It’s their magazin. The magazine is theirs.
 Examples
Якщо ми хочемо сказати - Це моя машина, а це - її,
то ми розуміємо, що її МАШИНА. Але ми не хочемо
знову говорити машина.
Тому ми говоримо так:
This is my car, and this is hers. Hers = her car. Hers –
це possessive pronoun.
