THE JUDGEMENT OF
MORALITY
*MORAL PRINCIPLES GOVERNING THE
MOTIVE OF THE AGENT.
1. A GOOD ACT WHICH IS DONE FOR GOOD
M O T I V E B E C O M E S D O U B LY G O O D .
To s a y t h a t a g o o d m o t i v e m a k e s a n e v i l a c t g o o d i n t o
disregard the fact that the performance of human act
proceeds from the deliberate will and not from the
motive. It is the will that determines an act is freely
chooses to do, whether good or evil. And if it chooses to
do evil. The act done is evil.
Hence, whether or not the motive of the agent is attached
to it, the act remains to be what it is. So that if it is evil,
it remains to such even if a good motive is there to
attached. The end just not justify the means. However
good, the end can never justify the performance of an evil
act, even if it is only slightly evil. Thus, good motive is
a sufficient reason for doing an evil act.
