A. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
Referring to the “creations of the mind, such as
inventions; literary and artistic works; designs; and
symbols, names and images used in commerce”.
Classification of IP
. INDUSTRIAL PROPERTY- patents, trademarks, industrial

designs and geographical indications and appellations of
origin.
2. COPYRIGHT- covers literary works (novels,poems, and
plays), film, music, artistic works(drawings, photographs,
painting and sculptures) and architectural designs.
TYPES OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
1. COPYRIGHT. It
is the legal term used to describe the rights
that creators have over their literary and artistic works.
(Books,music, paitings, sculpture and films, to computer
programs, databases, advertisements, maps and technical
drawings.)
2. PATENT. It is an exclusive right granted for an invention.
3. TRADEMARK.It is a distinguished sign of goods and services
of one enterprise from those of other enterprises.

Trademark example:
4.INDUSTRIAL DESIGN. An industrial design right protects
only the appearance or aesthetic features of a product,
whereas a patent protects an invention that offers a new
technical solution to a problem.
Three-dimensional features: shape/surface of an article, two-
dimensional features such patterns, lines, or color.
Wipo(The World Intellectual Property Organization) defines ID rights
protects only the appearance or aesthetic features of a product
5.GEOGRAPHICAL INDICATIONS AND APPELLATIONS OF ORIGIN. These
are the signs used on products processing, qualities, a status,
or characteristics that are essentially attributable to that
loaction of origin.
