Week 7
Overview
• We will not meet for our regularly scheduled class this week.
• Instead, you should do the following:
• Ensure you have watched the videos under the “Graded Forum” section on the
main course page. This includes student research videos from the University of
Calgary and a video from Campion’s Librarian explaining how to use the library.
• Post to the actual forum with your APA style article citation and summary
following the detailed instructions and template (GRADED)
• Check out some of the links provided in this PowerPoint to learn about the
Psychology Student’s Association and Faculty research (NOT GRADED)
• The Psychology Student’s Association is a group of arts & science
students who provide resources to support psychology students.

• They offer things like:

• A Peer Mentoring Program to connect junior and senior students
• Volunteer opportunities
• Social events to network with students/professors
• Info about the honours program in psychology

Psychology professor research
• If you plan to complete an honours degree in psychology, you will be
expected to conduct original research under the supervision of a psychology
faculty member.
• Over the course of your final year, you produce an honour’s thesis (a
research report with roughly 15 pages of written content including a
literature review, method section, results, and discussion).
• Your research is typically presented orally two times: a proposal for your
honours class in the fall and an academic poster at a symposium in April
• Check out the faculty website to see the type of research professors do here:
