DIFFUSION AND OSMOSIS PROCESS

BY USING BLACK RAISINS

SCIENCE PROJECT
DEFINITION OF OSMOSIS &
DIFFUSION

OSMOSIS -A process by which molecules of a

solvent tend to pass through a semipermeable
membrane from a less concentrated solution
into a more concentrated one.
DIFFUSION- This is the net movement of
anything from a region of higher concentration
to a region of lower concentration .

RAISINS AFTER SOAKING IN
WATER

When raisins are soaked in water they swell up

because:
o Osmosis: The water molecules pass through
the cell membrane of the raisins and then
they swell up.

CONCENTRATED SUGAR SOLUTION

ENDOSMOSIS: The process of movement

of water molecules into the cell when put in
hypotonic solution . When we put raisins in
water it gets swollen .
